The Copyblogger Party at SXSW

image of David Wooderson

This is a guest post by Wooderson from the film Dazed and Confused.

Alright, alright, alright – spring break for the Internet, otherwise known as SXSW, is coming in March right here in my beautiful hometown of Austin, Texas.

Number one on everyone’s mind is showing up at the best parties.

Not to worry, there’s a new fiesta in the making. The first in a series of epic Copyblogger parties will take place this year at South by Southwest Interactive.

This time it’s not at the moon tower. It’s at Beauty Bar on Saturday night, March 12, between 9 pm and 2 am. That’s on 7th Street, right around the corner from Emo’s.

Now, this is a high class event, being indoors and whatnot… but you won’t need a secret social media cool kid handshake to get in. Not at all — everyone is gonna be there, you ought to go….

And listen, you ought to ditch the two geeks you’re working on your website with now and get in with us. But that’s alright, we’ll worry about that later. I will see you there. All right?

Copyblogger Presents an Indelicate Diversion

Here’s what’s come together so far.

Around 9:30, the DJ will start playing Girl Talk’s newest album All Day. For the next 1 hour and 11 minutes, we’ll have a joyous open bar, which means free drinks, enough said.

You’ll be talking about how you don’t remember these 71 minutes for the rest of the year. Just watch the leather, man.

If you’re not familiar with Girl Talk, you might want to use our friend Google to research and/or download All Day for free here, but if bad words in rap songs mixed with old school rock and pop make you squirm, maybe you should skip it and come to Houston with me to get Aerosmith tickets.

What’s the catch for free drinks? The password, man.

The Password is…

During that one hour and 11 minute open bar, you’ll need a password to get in.

To get that password, go to this Facebook event page and click “I’m Attending.” Don’t worry, it’s low maintenance and you won’t have to do anything that prevents you from l-i-v-i-n.

Yep. The doors open at 9:00.

Follow Copyblogger on Twitter for updates.

That’s about it.

If you can’t make it, it’s cool.

It’d be a lot cooler if you did.

I’d LOVE to come. Being from South Africa it will be quite an expensive party with air tickets an all (we just got extra airport taxe domestic and international added to flight costs). But I’ll be there ‘in spirit’, if you know what I mean.

Following Brian on Twitter already. Hope to see all the awesome pics and I encourage everyone that attends to post about their experiences so I could say ‘I was there’ too… I’ll do a post on this for a a track back of course :)

Can’t wait to meet CB team. See you guys in Austin!

ReplyRachel Mathews says: February 25, 2011 at 9:18 am

Cool see you there, though I suspect I may miss the open bar as the conference I’m attending finishes at 10pm! Still looking forward to meeting you all :o )

I just spent 10 minutes watching Girl Talk videos on Youtube. Was on the fence until he incorporated Temple of the Dog’s ‘Hunger Strike’ with Lil’ Wayne. Nice.

Copyblogger was in a cult, and the cult was into parties, man…

ReplyFerris Stith says: February 25, 2011 at 9:54 am

I sooooooo wish I could be there! Have a great time everyone!

ReplyHarrisonamy says: February 25, 2011 at 9:57 am

I will definitely be there. Cannot wait. I’ve even been practising some moves…

ReplyJohnny B. Truant says: February 25, 2011 at 10:09 am

Johnny B. Truant will be — what’s the expression? — in the muffukkin hiz-ouse.

ReplyAli Luke says: February 25, 2011 at 10:24 am

I’ll be there!

If I pass out, it’s jetlag. Nothing to do with being a lightweight…

ReplyBenny Lewis says: February 25, 2011 at 12:15 pm

For blogworld I arrived when it had already started and jetlag got the better of me.
That’s why for SxSW I’m coming an entire week and a half before it starts (and staying afterwards). I “feel” your pain but luckily I won’t literally feel it too this time :P
Let’s show these ‘mericans how us European bloggers partay!

ReplyBob@JuicyMaters says: February 25, 2011 at 10:38 am

Must say…this is the first CB post I’ve read that is a waste of time. Com on, guys. The quality is always high…don’t start letting down now.

ReplyBrian Clark says: February 25, 2011 at 10:51 am

Just trying to have a little fun with the party announcement, Bob. Don’t worry.

ReplyJohnny B. Truant says: February 25, 2011 at 11:00 am

C’mon, Bob… they’re announcing a big event (big FREE event) and give content every other day. I think a single fun post to announce it isn’t really an abuse of quality.

ReplyRobert Bruce says: February 25, 2011 at 11:12 am

Dude, this is like, the highest quality party invite I’ve ever gotten.

ReplySonia Simone says: February 25, 2011 at 11:33 am

About two or three times a year, we ask Copyblogger readers to pay for all the solid content by indulging us when we get silly. Call it your frivolity tax.

ReplyShane Arthur says: February 25, 2011 at 11:47 am

Bob: The irony is not lost on me that you just wasted your time responding to a post that was a waste of your time. ;)

ReplySummer says: February 25, 2011 at 11:04 am

I just RSVP’ed my attendance. Partly because I want to see Johnny B. Truant drunk. LOL

ReplyJohnny B. Truant says: February 25, 2011 at 11:05 am

You might be waiting a long time… if I have two drinks in a day, that’s me going CRAAAAAAAZY! :)

ReplyBenny Lewis says: February 25, 2011 at 12:09 pm

I’m moving to Austin on Tuesday for the whole month for my next intensive language mission and of course to experience SxSW for that week. I can see so many cool people going already from commenters, several of which I met at blogworld. Awesomeness! :D

Hold a spot for a multilingual Irish blogger – see you all there :)
